How Flower Delivery Works in Encinitas β Everything You Need to Know
From same-day delivery cutoffs to zone pricing and what happens when nobody's home β your complete guide to getting fresh flowers hand-delivered anywhere in North County San Diego.

There's something uniquely personal about receiving a hand-delivered bouquet. No third-party driver, no refrigerated van shared with a dozen other orders β just someone from our shop driving straight to your recipient's door with an arrangement we made that morning. But for that experience to go smoothly, a little planning helps. Here's everything you need to know about how flower delivery works at Encinitas Coast Highway Flowers.
Our delivery area: North County San Diego
We deliver up to 18 driving miles from our shop at 1163 S Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas, covering virtually all of North County San Diego. That includes Encinitas, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Leucadia, Olivenhain, Solana Beach, Carlsbad, La Costa, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, San Marcos, Oceanside, Vista, and Escondido.
Not sure if your address qualifies? Enter it at checkout and we'll confirm instantly. If you're outside our range, we'll let you know right away and suggest in-store pickup instead.
Delivery zones and what they cost
We price delivery based on driving distance from our shop, split into four zones:
Zone 1 β Encinitas core, Cardiff, Leucadia, Olivenhain (0β3 miles): $15 delivery fee.
Zone 2 β Solana Beach, Carlsbad south, La Costa (3β7 miles): $18 delivery fee.
Zone 3 β Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, Carlsbad north (7β12 miles): $28 delivery fee.
Zone 4 β San Marcos, Oceanside, Vista, Escondido (12β18 miles): $40 delivery fee.
One thing worth knowing: orders of $150 or more delivered within Zones 1 or 2 qualify for free delivery. It's a popular threshold on Mother's Day and Valentine's Day β and honestly, a good excuse to add that extra arrangement to the cart.
Same-day delivery: the 1:00 PM rule
We offer same-day delivery Wednesday through Saturday. The cutoff is 1:00 PM Pacific Time. Place your order before then and we can usually have flowers at the door the same afternoon.
Why 1:00 PM? Our designers need time to pull the right stems from the cooler, build the arrangement, wrap it properly, and route the driver. Rushing that process would mean a worse arrangement for your recipient β and we'd rather not do that.
Sunday orders are scheduled for Wednesday (our next open day). If you're ordering for a Sunday event, place your order by Saturday before 1:00 PM.
We're closed on Mondays and Tuesdays
This is the one thing that surprises people most: our shop is closed every Monday and Tuesday. The earliest available delivery or pickup for any order is Wednesday. If you order over the weekend and need a Monday or Tuesday delivery, we'll reach out to reschedule for Wednesday.
We know this isn't how most online shops work β but it's how we keep our team rested, our flowers fresh, and our quality high the other five days. We appreciate your understanding.
Choosing your delivery window
At checkout you'll pick a 2-hour delivery window from four options: 10 AMβ12 PM, 12β2 PM, 2β4 PM, or 4β6 PM. We do our best to hit that window precisely, though occasionally traffic or a complex arrangement can push things by 15β20 minutes.
For time-sensitive situations β a birthday dinner that starts at 7:00 PM, say β we recommend choosing the 4β6 PM window and leaving a note in the delivery instructions field. Our driver will prioritize accordingly.
You can also schedule up to 60 days in advance. If you know a birthday or anniversary is coming, locking in your order early means you don't have to think about it again.
What happens if nobody's home?
We ask for the recipient's phone number at checkout specifically for this situation. If nobody answers the door, our driver will call or text to coordinate β whether that means leaving the arrangement with a neighbor, placing it in a shaded spot, or returning at a better time.
If you have gate codes, building entry instructions, or a preferred drop-off spot, add those to the delivery instructions field. The more detail you give us, the smoother the handoff.
Can I send flowers to someone else?
Yes β and this is the most common use case. At checkout you'll enter the recipient's name and phone number separately from your own contact info. Your contact information is only used for the order confirmation and any follow-up questions; the recipient's details go to our driver.
You can also add a gift message at checkout. It'll be printed on a card and included with the arrangement.
In-house drivers only
We never use DoorDash, Uber Eats, or any third-party courier service. Every delivery is made by a member of our own team. That means the person carrying your flowers knows how to hold the bouquet, which end goes up, and how to keep the arrangement intact from our cooler to the recipient's door.
It also means accountability. If something goes wrong β a damaged stem, a missed window β you're talking to us directly, not filing a ticket with a platform.
